Inside L&H: A Shop Tour of Tempe, Arizona

Precision is a word that gets used loosely in this industry. In Tempe, Arizona, it means something specific.

The L&H Tempe facility is 60,000 square feet of the largest manufacturing and repair capacity. Simply stated, it is a floor designed for large, complex components that require both scale and exactness.

LARGE SCALE TURNING

Our MTR CNC Vertical Turning Lathe handles swing diameters from 3 feet 7 inches up to 41 feet 6 inches — with a 500,000 lb table capacity and C-axis live tooling that combines turning, milling, and boring in a single setup. Eliminating repositioning, reducing error, and cutting lead time on components that most shops simply can’t touch.

GEAR GRINDING

Our Höfler Rapid 6000 grinds gears up to 19.7 feet in diameter and 6.6 feet in face width, achieving AGMA 12 quality or better, providing the highest gear quality classifications in the industry.

From vertical turning and gear grinding to welding, mechanical repair, and a full range of complex machining, the Tempe facility is built to take a component from raw condition to finished spec without it leaving the building. The equipment is the headline. The breadth is what makes it complete.
