Quality

We build it better—and do the right thing

Quality comes from knowing what you’re doing and caring that it’s done right. “Close enough” just doesn’t cut it for us. At L&H the simple fact is we build better, we build quality. No exceptions.

Quality in the shop

Rigorous product testing

We engineer and manufacture precise, durable, reliable components and assemblies. We aren’t satisfied until they are tested and we can honestly say they will meet or exceed customer requirements for quality, safety and service life.

Quality doesn’t just happen

The testing and analysis equipment used by our teams in Design & Engineering and Manufacturing & Repair include:

  • A full metallurgical lab
  • State-of-the-art portable CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
  • Laser trackers
  • Vibration and thermal analysis instruments
  • Optical emission spectrometer
  • Equipment for both destructive and non-destructive tests of yield, impact, hardness and tensile strength

Our quality team tests and inspects every product that leaves our shop to make sure it meets L&H standards.

Quality in the field

Expert field crews, state-of-the-art equipment

When you call on L&H Field Services, you get the best of the best. Whether we’re doing a complete undercarriage replacement on a mining shovel, tearing down a pumping unit for relocation, or performing routine inspections and maintenance on a dragline, you can be sure our field experts have specialized experience in what you need to have done, all the relevant certifications, well-defined protocols for making it happen, and the best tools for the job.

Long-term thinking

Our field service experts think bigger picture and longer term about what top-quality field service means. Our goal isn’t just to keep your equipment up and running; it’s to improve your machines—fleetwide—for Honestly Better safety, lifetime performance, and ease of maintenance.

Quality in action

Our commitment to quality explains why NASA chose L&H to re-outfit the Crawler-Transporter C-2, the integral of the spacecraft launch system that hauls massive rockets to the launch site. For NASA—and L&H—“close enough” doesn’t cut it when it comes to upgrading a one-of-a-kind machine, and we engineered and manufactured more than 1,300 parts to extremely tight tolerances.

Our NASA project—one of many large-scale projects we’ve undertaken—exemplified our 100% commitment to quality in every aspect of L&H services: Design & Engineering, Manufacturing & Repair, and Field Services.
